Your final project will be combining all aspects of what we have learned how to do in this class. All along the way, you will have options as you create the project. Be prepared to use everything we have learned, from Excel to Prezi.

You have just started a business! Congratulations! Some things to think about include…
  • What is your business named, and what do you sell?
  • What are the items that you are selling? You should have around 5 items.
  • How much do your items cost?
  • Where are your clients located? All over, or in one particular area/state/city?
  • What kind of sales could you offer your clients?

When you have decided these things, it is time to start creating! You need to create all of the following, in any order:
  1. A Word document that answers all of the questions listed above.
  2. An Excel file with information on 15 orders from your clients. Include their names, addresses, items that were ordered, how much they spent, how much for shipping, etc. Look back at what we did early on in the semester for help here.
  3. An advertisement for your company that is showing information on the big sale you will be having soon. Include pictures, details of the sale, and information on either how to find your store online or at a physical address. This can be accomplished in Word or in Google Documents. Here is a link to the Google Drive template gallery if you would like to look for some inspiration. It should be colorful and creative!
  4. A Google Spreadsheet detailing how many of each of your items have been sold. Perhaps include information on how many green vs how many yellow items you sold or how many of the items were ordered in bulk vs. how many items were ordered with only one item. Once you have the information, create graphs that go with your data. There should be at least two unique graphs with different information in each, although you can do more. The graphs have to be formatted well with titles, axis titles, etc.
  5. A Google Form that will be for either your customers to order from or for customer feedback. It needs to include at least five questions (and “What is your name?” does not count as one of them!) and will have at least three of the different types of questions. Make sure that you pick out an interesting theme and a title!
  6. A Google Site where people can see your products, contact you (this would be a great place to insert your Google Form!), and find out more information about your company. The site should have at least three pages. One of the pages will be a homepage, and one will be a contact page on how to contact you, find your store or find your company online, but the third (or fourth or fifth if you choose) is up to you. Make it creative and be sure to use pictures! Each page needs to include at least one image, but to truly be a sales tool for your company more might be necessary. Somewhere on your homepage, note that this is for a class project and that the ‘items’ you are selling are not real.
  7. A Powerpoint, Google Presentation, or Prezi (your choice) that incorporates all of the information you have compiled into something that you would be able to show potential investors. Make it look professional – you want people to help fund your growing company after all. It should include at least five points.
  8. A Tagxedo image should be created that includes many different words that describe your company.
  9. A commercial for your company using some combination of Audacity and/or MovieMaker. The commercial could be all audio if you would like to create a radio commercial or could be a video that you record on your own.
    1. If you do an audio commercial, it needs to include the information about the sale you will be having, at least one song that has been blended together with your audio, and the song has to match up with the theme of the commercial.
    2. If you do a video, you need discuss the sale you're having, include at least two images, and some voiceover that goes with the images. The commercial should be between 30 and 60 seconds long.
  10. Once you have all of the different pieces ready, head over to the wiki that you created and make a new page named "Final". If you created a wiki with someone else, you each should have a page listed that you can post on (one page named "George's Final" and one named "Joe's Final", for instance). On your wiki page, you should have the following:
    1. Your Tagxedo image
    2. Links to your Word and Excel files that you have uploaded to the site.
    3. Links to your Google spreadsheet, Google form, Google site, advertisement in Google Documents, and your presentation. Each link should be turned in to a hyperlink, so it looks like this: Home Page, instead of this: http://splhscomputerapps.wikispaces.com/Student+Home
    4. The link to your commercial. If it is audio, it should be saved in your Dropbox folder. If it is a video, it will need to be uploaded to YouTube and embedded in to your wiki. I can upload the video for you if you would like.

You will have up until the day of the final to complete this project. During the final period for this class, you will be presenting all of your information to me on my computer. You will not be presenting to the entire class, only to me. Make sure that you have all of your files and links ready to present. This includes:
  • Making sure things are set to public
  • Files have been linked to on your Final page
  • All of your links work

CLICK HERE to see the rubric for the final that I will fill out while you present your project. It would be wise to practice your presentation through a friends computer before you present to me so you know that everything will work properly. There will be a penalty if your links and files do not open correctly. I will not wait for you to go back to your computer and fix things.

On Friday, May 15, I will have a sign-up sheet for you to choose what time during the final period that you will present. Times will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
Good luck!
